  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 28 ounce can of diced tomatoes
  • 16 ounces tomato sauce
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 8 cups chicken stock
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Parmigiano Reggiano rind
  • 1 package cheese tortellini
  • 1/2 cup fresh chopped basil
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmigiano Reggiano

Instructions

  8. Cook the pasta in the soup according to the package directions, which are usually pretty short for fresh pasta.
  9. As soon as the pasta is done, remove from heat, stir in fresh basil and grated Reggiano.
